Reinstalling my computer last week I realized that I never recorded the software that I needed, so here it is:

• 7-zip: To extract compressed files files (ISO; RAR; ZIP…)
• AllwaySync : To ensure backup and file synchronization
• Apple iTunes : To synchronize my music
• Adobe Flash Player : To play flash animation
• Adobe Reader : To read PDF
• Microsoft Security Essentials : Security software
• Clock Screensaver : To see the time when the computer is idle (or that one)
• Checkpoint SecureClient : To securely connect to my work’s network
• Cropper : To make screenshot. (Much better than Windows 7 snipping tool)
• Daemon Tools: To mount ISO files
• Dropbox: To keep file online
• Freeplane: To brainstorm with mindmapping techniques
• imgburn: to create, extract and burn ISO files
• Klite Codec Pack Full : To watch some videos (don’t forget to install the Media player)
• Google Chrome : To replace the good old IE (as well as some extensions) — (see this post if you have issue to reinstall it)
• GotoMeeting : To organize call conferences
• Keepass: To save my passwords
• MagicISO : To mount ISO files as a drive
• Microsoft Server 2003 Administration Pack : To manage the servers
• Microsoft Office : Do I need to comment? (includes Visio and Project though)
• Microsoft SQL server client tools: To query databases
• Microsoft Visual Studio: To develop
• Notepad++ : To replace Microsoft notepad
• PDF Creator : To generate PDF files
• Paint.Net : To edit pictures (as good as Photoshop if you are not a pro)
• Send2Toys : Small contextual menu utilities
• Sun Microsystems VirtualBox : To run Virtual Machines
• Skype : Free and cheap calls worldwide

After the installation don’t forget to run a Windows Update and update all the software that you can (especially your antivirus!).

A couple of fine tuning like:

• Avoid Google redirection

And the machine is ready!
