1. Install VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
2. Install Handbrake (open source video transcoder) http://handbrake.fr
3. In Hanbrake, go to tools > options and configure (output files default path and the VLC path)
4. Click on source and select your DVD player
5. Click on Apple TV on the right menu
6. Click on the start button
